Meditation and sound

Mindfulness is a way of being and involves learning how to pay attention in our lives so that we get more familiar with the kinds of events that increase suffering and those that decrease suffering. Mindfulness meditation helps us to get in touch with the present moment – the here and now. We learn to become aware of the rise and fall of our thoughts and emotions and of the sensations of the body. We practise observing them objectively without identification, becoming less reactive and inevitably more relaxed.

The practice of meditation allows us to weave calm and stillness into our minds and bodies. However, it can be quite disconcerting to be seated alone on a cushion for any length of time and it can seem like time drags on forever - especially at the beginning of the practice. It is for this particular reason that I offer you sound relaxation. The calming effect of sound reduces the stream of thoughts and eases mental agitation. Concentration becomes easier and meditation becomes more accessible.

During the session

During the session, you are invited to either sit comfortably on a chair, a cushion, or lie down on a mat. The meditation is guided step-by-step and accompanied by singing bowls, gong, tuning forks, chimes and other instruments. Sound relaxation is offered separately from sound massage and is practiced in a group session.

Practising sound meditation on a daily basis can help you to:
• Manage stress
• Reduce anxiety
• Improve your relationships
• Create inner peace
• Awaken your intuition
• Lower your blood pressure
• Become less judgmental
• Connect to your true self
• Regulate your sleep patterns
• And much more . . .
